Chorley Building Society appoints new CEO

Chorley Building Society has appointed Kimberley Roby, as its new Chief Executive. Subject to regulatory approval, Kim will take up the role following the Society’s AGM in May.

Stephen Penlington, will retire from his role of CEO, leaving behind a legacy of strong business performance and financial resilience. 


Peter Brickley, Chair of the Board said: “On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Steve for his 20 years of service as CEO of Chorley Building Society.  Under his leadership the Society has consistently delivered strong results.  The Board wishes him a long and fulfilling retirement. The board is delighted to appoint Kim as CEO. Following a robust and rigorous selection process, she emerged as the outstanding candidate to lead the Society, demonstrating a deep commitment to the Society, combined with significant sector experience.”


Steve commented: “It has been an honour to lead the Society for the last 20 years.  I’m proud of what the Society has accomplished over this time and how the dedication of colleagues has delivered real impact for Members and for the community.   I am confident that the business will continue to thrive under Kim’s leadership as she leads our exciting growth and transformation strategy and I look forward to working with her over the next few months to ensure a smooth transition.”


Kim has two decades of experience in the building society sector.  She has held various roles in the Society and was appointed Customer Services Director in 2017. Her experience encompasses customer service, operations and risk management, equipping her well for her new role.  


Kim said: “It is an honour to be taking over from Steve, who leaves behind an impressive legacy and can be extremely proud of what he has created here at Chorley.”
