A Greener Society

As a building society we are committed to supporting not just our Members, but also our employees and the greater community which we serve.

We believe we all have a role in understanding our impact on the environment and at the Society we have begun to make changes that will have an impact on reducing carbon emissions.

These include:

AGM communication sent by email where possible and AGM communication printed on recycled paper where necessary.
Recycled pencils and pens purchased for events and customers
Environmentally friendly merchandise purchased and a move away from plastic items
Reduction in print volume by using email for marketing communications where possible
Full commitment to Hybrid working (where activities and roles can allow)
Annual monitoring of energy usage to develop our carbon footprint monitoring to scope 2 criteria

It’s not just through these actions that we are improving our carbon footprint, this can also be demonstrated through our products too. We have recently launched a ‘green cashback’ for our First Homes and Discount Market Scheme mortgage products.

We are also regularly updating our Knowledge Hub with information to help our Members understand and improve their impact on the environment.
