Your online account security is incredibly important to us and as such we will soon be enhancing Chorley Online and your account’s security with Two-Factor Authentication. This will take place from the 16th August 2021.
What is Two-Factor Authentication?
Two-Factor Authentication is an extra layer of security that provides a way of ‘double-checking’ that you are the person that holds the account and it ensures that you’re the only person who can access your account, even if someone else knows your password.
Do I need to do anything?
If your Chorley Online account already contains an up to date contact telephone number, you do not need to do anything before the 16th of August. However, if you have changed your telephone number since registering for Chorley Online or if you simply want to check that your contact details are up-to-date, you can login to your Chorley Online account and review this by selecting your name in the top left hand corner and then selecting ‘Update Contact Details.’
If your Chorley Online account does not currently contain a contact telephone number for you which is required in order for you to access your Chorley Online account with two-factor authentication, you can add your telephone number(s) by logging into your Chorley Online account before 16th August, selecting your name in the top left hand corner and then selecting ‘Update Contact Details’.
Alternatively you can message us within Chorley Online or call us on 01257 235003 and we can do this for you. Once this is done, the first time you log in to Chorley Online from 16th August, you will be able to set up Two-Factor Authentication.
What happens when I log-in to Chorley Online from the 16th August?
When you log in to Chorley Online for the first time from the 16th August, you will be sent an email to complete the setup of your two factor authentication. When you receive the email please follow the link which will open up a new Chorley Online window in your browser.
You will then be instructed online how to set-up two-factor authentication. You can choose to either be sent a text message or receive an automated call with a code for you to enter.
Once you have entered the code, Two-Factor Authentication will be set-up on your account. Every time you access Chorley Online in the future, you will be sent an authentication code by your preferred method. You can change your contact details/preferred method via Chorley Online at any time.
Who do I contact if I need help?
